Food Security Garden
Growing food, growing independence
Sarah Baartman Development Center

Building dignity, food security & opportunity in Langkloof.
In a valley that feeds billion-dollar export markets, our community fights for its own bread. We're changing that — together.
The contradiction we live in
Langkloof, in the Sarah Baartman District of the Eastern Cape, produces fruit that stocks shelves across Europe, the UK and Asia. It is part of a billion-rand agricultural export industry.
Yet the Black and Coloured families who have worked this land for generations often go without enough to eat, without access to quality education, and without a fair stake in the wealth their labour creates.
Sarah Baartman Development Center NPC exists to change that story — one garden, one child, one small business at a time.

Our four pillars
Growing food, growing independence
Literacy that opens doors
Advocating for a fairer Langkloof
Turning skills into sustainable income
